Dacolt provides hands-on courses for turbulent combustion modelling with CFD for industrial applications, based on OpenFOAM® technology or ANSYS® FLUENT®. The training courses include both theoretical aspects as well as tutorials.

Dacolt training courses

Dacolt currently offers the following training courses on turbulent combustion modelling:

  • Introduction to FGM combustion modelling with ANSYS FLUENT 15 (1 day)
  • Introduction to turbulent combustion modelling using OpenFOAM technology (3 days)
  • Introduction to turbulent combustion modelling using ANSYS FLUENT (3 days)

Introduction to FGM combustion modelling with ANSYS FLUENT 15

This 1-day training is dedicated to a great new feature of the latest Fluent release: FGM modelling for partially-premixed systems. The training course covers the following topics:

  • Introduction to turbulent combustion modelling and FGM
  • Partially-premixed combustion modelling with FLUENT
  • CFD model set-up and table generation
  • Hands-on tutorials

Course participants should have basic knowledge of using FLUENT for combustion modelling purposes. Advanced topics like LES, radiation, heat-transfer and pollutants are not covered.

Introduction to turbulent combustion modelling using OpenFOAM technology

This 3-day training focusses on (U)RANS modelling and aims to get the participants familiar with the basic theoretical concepts used in turbulent combustion modelling and to provide hands-on excerises to apply the theory in practice. The training has been developped in collaboration with ICON, editors of FOAMpro and experts in Open Source CFD technology. The training course covers the following topics:

  • Day 1:
    • Introduction to turbulent combustion modelling in industry
    • Combustion chemistry
  • Day 2:
    • Turbulence / chemistry interaction
    • Non-premixed combustion modelling with reactingFoam
  • Day 3:
    • Non-premixed combustion modelling with reactingFoam
    • Premixed combustion modelling with XiFoam

Course participants should have basic knowledge of using OpenFOAM technology for CFD modelling purposes. Combustion theory basics will be covered during the first day of the training. Advanced topics like LES, radiation, heat-transfer and pollutants are not covered. The training will be provided in English.

This 3-day training focusses on RANS modelling and aims to get the participants familiar with the basic theoretical concepts used in turbulent combustion modelling and to provide hands-on excerises to apply the theory in practice. The training course covers the following topics:

  • Day 1:
    • Introduction to turbulent combustion modelling in industry
    • Combustion chemistry
  • Day 2:
    • Turbulence / chemistry interaction
    • Non-premixed combustion modelling with FLUENT
  • Day 3:
    • Premixed combustion modelling with FLUENT
    • Partially-premixed combustion modelling with FLUENT
