GFSD look-up table software

Introduction

The GFSD model [1] has been implemented in a commercial CFD code for simulating auto-ignition and combustion in DI Diesel engines. This model requires data from one-dimensional laminar diffusion flames to account for complex chemistry effects.

Objectives

The objective of this project was to develop a set of tools to incorporate data from the 1D laminar flame code Chem1D [2] into 3D DI Diesel combustion simulations.

Software development

The tools developed have the following characteristics:

  • User interface to set-up the laminar flame calculations
  • Wrapper script to interface the laminar flame data with the 3D CFD code
  • Languages: mainly Fortran 77/95 programs interfaced with shell scripts
