CFD analysis of a domestic boiler

CFD analyses of a modern domestic boiler have been realised for ATAG, in collaboration with the combustion group of the Eindhoven University of Technology. The objectives for this project were twofold:

  • Model set-up characterize the existing ATAG boiler configuration in terms of efficiency and pollutant chemistry;
  • Investigate a number of boiler configurations and analyse the differences in efficiency and pollutant chemistry effects.

The tools which have been developed in this study provided ATAG with new insights about the processes inside the boiler, as well as guidelines for the improvement of the existing boiler and the development of new boilers.
